Accreditation & Approvals

South Baylo University is a private institution and is approved to operate by the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) of the State of California. An approval to operate means compliance with state standards as set forth in the California Private Postsecondary Education, Act 2009.

South Baylo University is institutionally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM), which is the recognized accrediting agency for freestanding institutions and colleges of acupuncture or Oriental medicine that offer such programs. ACAOM is located at 8941 Aztec Drive, Eden Prairie, MN  55347, Phone: (952) 212-2434; Fax: (301) 313-0912. ACAOM is an accreditation agency recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE).

South Baylo University (SBU), its master’s-level programs in Oriental medicine (MSAOM) delivered in English, Chinese and Korean languages, and its advanced practice doctoral program (DAOM) delivered in English and Korean languages are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM or Commission) through February 2027.

SBU’s accreditation status with ACAOM is under a probation sanction in response to the BPPE probationary sanction, set to expire in October of 2022. Upon expiration, the Commission will consider SBU’s accreditation record and its then current status with the BPPE and take appropriate action consistent with ACAOM’s Commission Actions Policy. Students enrolled in the Master’s and Doctoral Programs may be eligible for student financial assistance programs authorized by Title IV of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended (Title IV, HEA Programs) and mandated by the United States Secretary of Education of the U.S. Department of Education (USDE).

The University’s program is approved for the training of veterans and other eligible persons under United States Code Title 38.

The University is authorized by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service to process Form 1-20, enabling prospective international students to apply for an F1 Student Visa.
