What are the admission requirements for entering into the MAcHM or DAOM degree program?

What is the length of the MAcHM Degree Program?

The allowed time for any student to complete the MAcHM degree program is sixteen (16) quarters or four (4) calendar years. This is the normal academic track length of time. Students must be enrolled in an average of twelve (12) units each quarter in order to meet the stated time frame and the South Baylo University regulation on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). The maximum program length for the MAcHM program is twenty-four (24) quarters or six (6) calendar years.

What is the length of the DAOM degree program?

The allowed time for any student to complete the DAOM degree program is twelve (12) quarters or three (3) calendar years. This is the normal academic track length of time. Students must be enrolled in an average of 8 to 12 units each quarter in order to meet the stated time frame and the Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). The maximum program length for the DAOM program is sixteen (16) quarters or four (4) calendar years.

Is Financial Aid assistance available for students?

Yes. Financial aid assistance is available to qualified students in the form of scholarships, Pell Grants, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG), Federal Work-Study (FWS) and Federal Direct Loans. 

What is required to obtain a license to practice acupuncture?

The California Acupuncture Board issues licenses and regulates the profession according to the Acupuncture Licensure Act, which identifies acupuncture as a primary health care profession.
A graduate of SBU is eligible to sit for the Licensure Examination conducted by the California Acupuncture Board, provided the graduate has met all licensing requirements.

For other states, a graduate is recommended to contact the appropriate state licensing agency for specific licensing requirements.

What can I expect regarding clinic experience?

The University offers 960 instructional hours dedicated to patient care and management during the clinical internship program to prepare interns for future private practice as primary health care providers.  Under the supervision of licensed clinical faculty members, students diagnose and treat patients with a broad array of health concerns enabling the students to become proficient in  patient care.

Does SBU offer student housing?
