SBU welcomes you as an international applicant to our programs

  

SBU welcomes you as an international applicant to our programs in the Anaheim campus. An international applicant is defined as an applicant who is not a citizen or permanent resident (green card holder) of the United States.

 

 

Admission Requirement

 

International students who need an I-20 must apply for admission as a full-time student.

An international student must meet the application requirements and is required to:

  • Complete and submit the  I-20 Request Form (Download Request form).
  • Submit the Foreign Credential Evaluation evaluated by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) agency.
  • Meet the English Language Proficiency Requirement.
  • Submit official documentation from banks and employers to show financial resources in order to meet all educational costs to attend a university in the U.S.
  • Pay a non-refundable Mailing Fee of $50 for domestic, or $100 for international (for I-20 to be mailed out)

Upon receipt of the I-20 form, the international students must pay the US immigration SEVIS fee of USD$200 (I-901 fee) before the interview at the US Embassy. Further information can be found at www.uscis.gov

 

 

Foreign Transcript Evaluation

 

If an applicant has completed any coursework or a degree or degrees from institutions outside of the United States, he or she must request an official course-by-course evaluation from a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) agency to be forwarded to the following address for review along with the application for admission:

SBU is available to assist the student in obtaining the required Foreign Transcript Evaluation for a non-refundable fee of $200.

The Foreign Official Transcript Evaluation result is for South Baylo University only. It is not valid for any other purpose.

Language Proficiency Requirement

 

International applicants whose native language is not English are required to provide proof of English proficiency for admission to degree, certificate, and non-degree graduate programs. This must be demonstrated by one of the following means:

1. The applicant must have completed one of the following:
a) four years at a U.S. high school demonstrably delivered in English;
b) at least two-years (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate- or graduate-level education in an institution accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education;
c) at least two-years (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate- or graduate-level education demonstrably delivered in English;
d) high school or two-years (60 semester credits or 90 quarter credits) of undergraduate- or graduate-level education in an institution in one of the following countries or territories:
American Samoa; Anguilla; Antigua & Barbuda; Australia; Bahamas; Barbados; Belize; Bermuda; Botswana; British Virgin Islands; Cameroon; Canada (except Quebec); Cayman Islands; Christmas Island; Cook Islands; Dominica; Federated States of Micronesia; Fiji; The Gambia; Ghana; Gibraltar; Grenada; Guam; Guyana; Ireland; Isle of Man; Jamaica; Kenya; Lesotho; Liberia; Malawi; Montserrat; Namibia; New Zealand; Nigeria; Norfolk Island; Papua New Guinea; Philippines; Pitcairn Islands; Sierra Leone; Singapore; South Africa; South Sudan; St. Helena; St. Kitts & Nevis; St. Lucia; St. Vincent & the Grenadines; Swaziland; Tanzania; Trinidad and Tobago; Turks and Caicos Islands; United Kingdom; U.S. Virgin Islands; Uganda; Zambia; Zimbabwe.

In all cases, English must have been both the language of instruction and the language of the curriculum used.

Compliance of All Applicable Law

 

Federal laws, regulations, processes, and requirements relevant to international applicants are subject to change at any time. SBU requires that international students adhere to all applicable federal laws regarding their period of stay and/or ability to work in the United States. SBU will also abide by all applicable federal laws, including future changes that may limit or restrict an individual’s ability to remain in the United States.

SBU urges applicants who have questions about their status or applicable immigration laws in the United States to seek private legal counsel.
