Disbursements and Refunds
South Baylo University follows all federal regulations regarding Title IV financial aid eligibility and disbursement. Students must meet all federal and institutional requirements at the time of disbursement to receive aid.
Eligibility Requirements for a Financial Aid Disbursement
To be eligible to receive a financial aid disbursement, students must:
- Submit a valid FAFSA for the applicable academic year.
- Complete or update the Master Promissory Note (MPN) if expired.
- Be enrolled at least half-time:
- MACHM Program: 8 credit units (equivalent to 160 internship hours) per quarter
- DAOM Program: 5 credit units per quarter
- Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements.
- Maintain active enrollment. Students who withdraw or are dismissed before completing 60% of the term (for example, before the 6th week of a 10-week quarter) may be required to return part of their federal aid under Return to Title IV (R2T4) regulations. How Disbursement Works
- Financial aid is applied first to tuition and fees.
- Any remaining credit balance is refunded to the student.
Disbursement Schedule
- Funds are typically disbursed in three equal installments per academic year.
- Disbursements generally begin after the Add/Drop period and are usually completed by the fourth week in accordance with SBU policy.
- First-time, first-year borrowers (students receiving their first federal loan) may experience a 30-day delay for their first loan disbursement.
- Delays may also occur if financial aid documentation, funding estimates, or projected amounts in COD are submitted late.
